Daily Prompt 1/11/24

Daily writing prompt
What would you do if you won the lottery?

I do love this question, which is rare for me. I usually dislike the prompts or find them poorly written, but I like this one.

If I won the lottery, I would not become rich.

First I would start a foundation to help people but for what, I have no idea. Something education, sports opportunities, neighborhood clean up grants, fighting poverty, or providing safe, dependable, AND affordable childcare for parents who need that assistance to get their own lives in order.

Secondly, I would set up trusts for all the children in my family for college and/or starting out their lives. I would pay any remaining student loan debt for family members still paying on theirs, and then I would look at paying mortgages for some family members who could really benefit from the assistance.

Lastly, I would buy property to build a garage for all the cars I want to own but have no room for in my own garage. It would be secure with cameras to monitor the cars and the area around the garage.

I don’t want to blow money on a ton of properties, although I would want to probably buy a condo around Washington DC that we could use whenever, but I could also rent it out to help fund maintenance and any fees.

I don’t see myself living a hugely different life just because I had a bunch of money. I would rather get the kids in the family out with a good start as adults, and unburden older family members who still have mortgages. But mainly I want to help the world. I don’t need fancy designer clothes that cost thousands of dollars per piece. I don’t want a huge house that requires a staff to keep it clean and well maintained. I like my life now and would want to continue doing those things I already do. I also really want to help people who have had no luck in life and need just a little help to better their situation for themselves and their kids.
