Daily Prompt 1/3/24

Daily writing prompt
Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

I used to think more about the past, but in the last few months I have noticed that I am much more focused on the future. As I have healed I have found that I spend much less time thinking about the past. I do think about some things more than others, but in general I don’t think too much about the past as compared to the future.

I think that dwelling in the past means you are thinking about things that you cannot change or improve. It’s fine to think about the past to find lessons you can learn from and things you can improve in the future. But it’s a waste. No one ever says “You spend too much time dwelling on the future.” It’s more like planning when you are thinking about the future, although I suppose that daydreaming about the future and not putting any effort into action for the future would be wasteful.

For me, beyond the healing part of looking into the future, I also feel like I really want to push hard into these next few years because I think there’s something or some THINGS I am meant to be doing that I have been preparing for mentally. I guess I will figure all of that out soon!
