After my great success with doing my own VA claim, I decided to help out the squatter with theirs. It took me a long time, but I still worked hard. I went through the exact same process I did for mine: multiple and thorough reviews of the medical file, multiple lists of what I found, and astute research on each condition and possible impacts to health and livelihood.
The squatter was all about the free money until it landed a flying job. Suddenly the squatter wanted to end the entire process because of concerns with being cleared to fly. I told the squatter that i was out and not going to call to end the work on the claim. Naturally the squatter is incapable of doing anything properly.
Today a check from the treasury shows up for the squatter, who has not yet changed their address after WEEKS of not living here. Big shocker there. Since the squatter doesn’t even know their own VA log in information, I decide to check it.
THE DAMN SQUATTER GOT A 40% RATING DESPITE SKIPPING APPOINTMENTS AND NOT PROVIDING ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
And the squatter’s check is almost $8000. The monthly payments will be close to $900. But we all know the squatter won’t use that money for the kids at all. The squatter might use it to pay down debt. But most likely it will buy toys for itself.
Part of me thinks about this: That jerk has been out of the military for almost 19 years. It’s very difficult to get anything after so long. But my work was so good that 40% is huge after all this time. I am ridiculously thorough and I make sure that I don’t leave any stone unturned. It seems like some conditions are deferred for later and the percentage could rise even more. I am not sure the squatter will even thank me. Typical.
But now the dilemma is that I will have to contact the squatter with this official mail. I will have to break this stalemate after the massive fight. Squatter didn’t seem to understand that there’s not dropping in and picking up kids at random. And stay the heck out of the business of my house, even if one of the kids complains that I’m mean because I don’t let them eat a particular snack late at night.
What makes me angry about the squatter getting money is that i did all the work. It skipped a bunch of appointments and didn’t do anything for the money. Will it pay for anything with the kids? NOPE.
