My first computer was my dad’s. We had a computer in our house before anyone else I knew. I think it was the summer of 1987. We had the big floppy disks for everything. My dad bought us a few games like Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. I loved that game and learned a lot about geography in the couple of years that I played it. There was also some weird burger game where you had to send burgers, fries, and milkshakes down these lines of customers. It was impossible. There was also spider solitaire and minesweeper.
I do not remember anything about the actual computer itself other than i loved having a computer in my house. I don’t think we had a printer right away though. And I know my dad replaced it every few years. He’s still weird about always wanting a new computer. Me, I keep computers until I have no option but to buy a new one. I also don’t have a desktop anymore and probably won’t ever buy another one. I enjoy having a laptop and being much more portable if I wanted to write somewhere.
