The Garden?

So we’ve been watching the Garden…cult or commune for the past two evenings. this show is nuts. If I could sum it up in one sentence, it would be hippies hosting preppers as potential living partners is this bizarre commune. This is bonkers and I don’t exactly understand the why. I don’t understand why this group would take in just anyone or why preppers would think they’d fit in well with hippies.

But the craziest part was this one dude, Oak, that came in and did his trial 10 days. He couldn’t even drag himself up the hill and needed someone to come pick him and his luggage up. He needed help with his tent, he refused to help with anything they’re doing to build up the site, and he talks shit about everyone around him loudly on his phone while lounging in his tent. When confronted, he spins a stupid story about how no one tried to talk to him. His little story line struck me as funny because he made no effort to do anything with the group, criticized everything they tried to teach him like he could do better, and then decides that everyone is against him. Dude, this all falls on you!

I have met so many people like this. They come into a group and don’t want to actually do anything that means that they are a part of the group. They don’t want to do the work they need to do to open up and share who they are or step outside of their comfort zone. And then these people blame everyone else when they don’t fit in with the group. But I guess being the one person trying to join an established group takes more than just trying your best. I guess I am doing this with the other lacrosse coaches. I was there with them in the fall and I am here again. I attended a meeting Saturday afternoon and we’ve been texting forever. I did pick up the balls from one of our practice gyms when we realized that we were practicing at the other gym. I don’t necessarily need to be in the friend group with them, but I do want to be part of the coaches group for sure.

But I definitely can’t imagine trash talking people in the group already and then being offended when I get called out for my shitty behavior.

  1. That sounds like something I could really watch! I love reality shows where different people clash!
