Adventure. My entire life has been about seeking adventure.
I grew up in a world where responsibility and security are the two most important considerations and I found it to be stifling. I actually have been doing both most of my adult life. The military provided both security and adventure while I was in and after retirement. I did have to do the time to get to retirement, but looking back, it really didn’t feel as long as it did at the time.
Adventure to me doesn’t always mean excitement and thrill. Sometimes the adventure for me is just not knowing how something will turn out. I always have at least a loosely formed plan, but I find that I leave a lot up to chance because it is more adventurous that way. I am slightly a control freak, but not as much as I used to be. I have learned to let go and go with the flow. It’s so much more relaxing that way than trying to force everything like I used to.
