Have you ever performed on stage or given a speech?
Yes, as a little kid I was in a bunch of plays. In third grade I was chosen to play a lead character in the school play but was unable to actually do it because I was scheduled for surgery the day of that play. I had to have my adenoids removed. I was disappointed but I don’t think I was meant to go into acting or anything, so it was no big deal.
As a little kid and slightly older kid, I was on stage for ballet as well. It wasn’t an activity I chose for myself, my parents wanted me to be “more graceful.” I resented them for this for a long time because I did like the stage part but go to class several times a week and on Saturdays sometimes was too much. I wanted to play sports but there was no money or time for what I actually wanted to do.
I also did band for like 9 years, both marching band and concert band. I did choose that and really enjoyed it most of the time. Marching band was a ton of work and I really loved it. Most of my friends were from marching band and I wouldn’t be who I am today without it.
I’ve done a ton of presenting and public speaking for my job in the military, some in front of a couple people, some in front of a bunch of people. I’m not scared of public speaking at all.
