I have taken so many road trips that I don’t really have any one trip that stands out as more memorable than any others. I have traveled from NY, where I spent my childhood, to Canada, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, and other places I can’t remember. The farthest I’ve been in a car is Texas to NY. I have traveled Florida to NY more than any other trip as an adult.
I’ve road tripped with family, friends, sports teams, and myself. Some people are better travel partners than others, but I definitely hate driving ny myself the most. I find myself pretty boring when I’m alone in a car. Music helps, but usually about an hour into a solo drive I am totally bored. I don’t mind driving when I have someone to talk to, but I really can’t stand driving alone. Talking on the phone helps, but I feel like I sometimes get a little distracted doing that.
Thankfully our child exchange road trips are over and that drastically reduces out time stuck on the road for holidays and other inconvenient times. I didn’t really enjoy thoze roadtrips because it usually took up the entire day. Sometimes we made it an overnight trip, but then it’s just time away from home and bringing the kids back was a huge adjustment for everyone.
