Morning!
I am a morning person. I naturally wake up early and once I wake up, I’m usually all the way up. I like seeing the sun and feeling its warmth on me. I like to get up and get things done early so I can rest later.
I am married to a not-morning person and it’s rough sometimes because I am all excited to be awake and alive and my wife is not. She wants more sleep. She doesn’t want to get up. She wants to wake up slowly, and take her time waking up all the way. I wake up all the way when I wake up on my own. Waking up to an alarm, I need a couple of minutes to get to fully awake, like maybe 3-5 minutes. And then I am ready to sing and be joyful.
I don’t think of night owls and non-morning people as lazy, unproductive, or bad people at all, like other morning people I know. There’s no moral failure by simply enjoying more sleep, or being up later and sleeping in later. My parents are morning people and they wake up before the sun comes out. That is not my jam. That is definitely too early.
